Odysseus escapes from the Land of the Laestrygonians, thanks to the complicity of Queen Melanippe, with only one ship out of the twelve he had when he started on his way back home from Troy and with just a few of his companions.The winds push him northwards this time and after a while he arrives on a strange island where a dangerous goddess lives in solitude. Circe is a sorceress, a goddess feared by mortals and immortals alike. However this dangerous female seems to be affected by the charms and personality of the crafty Achaean wanderer and he, in turn, responds to her attentions. Then, one day Hera, the Queen of the Gods, arrives on the sorcerer's island to request Odysseus' help on a delicate matter on behalf of the Olympians.
